St
Briavels lies on the B4228 Chepstow - Coleford road (GR SO 5504).
The village shelters behind the crumbling walls of its 12th century
castle which is now a flourishing Youth Hostel. |

Pronounced "Brevels", the village stands on the edge
of a limestone plateau above the valley of the River Wye and overlooks
an ancient ox-bow of the river.
St Briavels is a 'proper' village with Norman Chruch, Post Office, General
Stores, 2 pubs with food, a local craft shop and tea rooms.
Cinderhill house is just below St Briavels Castle, overlooking the Wye
Valley
